Just joined tonight.

I worked for Cliff Pratt Cycles in Hull in the mid 1970's and rode for Hull Thursday Road Club. I left home in 1978 and gave up cycling for other things but dragged a few bits of bikes around with me including a Bob Jackson TT frame and my Falcon Road Frame plus a smattering of Campag / dura-ace stuff.

I decided to get pedalling again and bought a Basso Reef but it rides a bit like wood so I have decided to try and resurrect my Bob Jackson so I'll be keeping an eye out for bits an pieces and asking advice along the way. I'll post a couple of pics when I have the post count :)

Cheers

What was it like i the 90's ? When I left it was a Raleigh 5 star dealership but also stocked a lot of Falcon's as it wasn't far from Barton on Humber.

I used to run the lightweight side of things........in constant competition with Ken Elleker Cycles (which is still going as I see they advertise in Cycling Plus)

I used to live off Beverly Road so not too far to ride out into the country (Skidby/Beverly ....)

Heres the frame, Seen a few 10's and 25's in my younger days. seems to be a track frame with vertical dropouts and brazed on attachments for weinman 500 brakes. Cut out bottom bracket too.

Good enough to build at the moment but going to sent it of to be refinished....just not sure about the colour, I always wanted a white and chrome bike :D

I think it's a Messina model - or an adaptation of one. Possibly built by a mate of mine, Kevin Sayles who was at BJ's in the 70's. (He's now at Woodrup.)

Frame looks in excellent condition, may only need a good clean, light T-Cut and polish to bring back to standard. Plenty of period equipment for sale here - and jumbles (but possibly not many where you are!)

I probably 'crossed sword' with you on the 'Boro' a few times in the mid/late 70's!

Not sure how old you are?? did you do any of the GHS "10"'s on the Boro ??

I have always wanted a white bike so might treat myself, just wondering about flat white or pearlecsent. LOL I'll be posting quite a bit on here putting things together, the biggest bugbear is going to be the wheels and the chainset.......it's currently got a Campag Piste BB but I havn't got the chainset.

The wheels I think I'll have my campag / Fiamme jobbies rebuilt, presuming you can still buy tubs and the spokes are available :)

Cheers

from what I recall it seemed to be mainy road focussed. I do remember it being rammed to the ceiling with stock. I saw my first ever Kirk Revolution there too, thought it was amazing.

Bought my first cycling shoes there too.
