new forks

hi guys
i wonder if you guys can help. i bought a set of rock shock indy c forks of ebay and come to find out that my old forks that i removed are a threaded steerer. but they both seem to have the same size steerer

Yeah. In short, you've brought the wrong forks.

Your bike is fittied with a theaded steerer and head set which screws down onto it, with a quill stem which goes down inside the steerer tube.

The Indys have a threadless steerer which use a threadless a-head set. The steerer and headset are held in place by an a-head stem which clamps around the outside of the steerer tube. This means that the steerer needs to be around 40mm - 50mm longer than a threaded steerer for the same bike.

Your options are......sell those Indys and get some with a threaded steerer tube the right length, or, if the steerer is long enough, get a new head set and stem to suit the new forks. :wink:
