A couple of moths ago I picked this frame up off of xcrider - Thank you Sir - on a whim.

I had no plans for the frame, in fact I had just given away a full bikes worth of build bits

Details on the brand are sketchy. Although still in business they have been unwilling to shed any light on their earlier years.

As far as I can tell they were imported into mainland Europe during the mid to late 90's and this was (obviously due to its name   ) meant as their hardercore model and less pure XC.

The serial number doesn't elude to much other than it fits in with the rough numbering of a mid to late 90's frame.

The frame is pretty light at just over 2kg (2036g IIRC)

➡️ Build:

"Cotic Orange" was the colour of choice. The forks are a pair of Specialized Direct Drive that I already had and thought might suit the build.

If anything I think the frame would suit a longer fork than the current 420mm AtoC.

As the frame isn't particularly rare or interesting I will be building it up with practical parts from the now restocked   parts bin.

Color not quite picked up by the camera in its full gaudiness ... it really is very orange!

You can sort of see in this pic the less than usual tube profiles. DT ovalises at the BB and in the opposite way at the HT. TT is a little flatted too:

Cowled and drilled dropouts:

Loadsa room! The 2.1 Racing Ralph is fairly big and it looks a little lost in the stays ......

I've just received some RS7s with 5 bolt spider so in the next week or so plan to get this finished and ridden.

Stay tuned ..... or not

➡️ February 2014 .... Quick update:

Apart from decals I'm nearly done

Really happy how this has turned out. 22 1/2lb on my bike shops scales and thats with the pedals

This has been very much a "use what you already had build". The exceptions being the stem ... needed one with some rise and the e type front mech.

➡️ This is my first build using an e type front mech. Really neat and a doddle to set up. Any idea why the didn't catch on?

➡️ Modern/retroish mix of parts:

I'm confident that this is not to many peoples tastes but thats all part of the fun

Re: New Build >> Lee Cougan Hardcore

Pretty neat, any chance of it getting decals? Looking forward to see what your parts bin will make of it.

Re: New Build >> Lee Cougan Hardcore

What a difference a colour makes , it looks very nice Mark 8)

Power or paint ? it looks like something from Hazzard County

Re: New Build >> Lee Cougan Hardcore

Thanks Squire :D

It's a powder finish.

I've used the place several times now and have always been pleasantly surprised by the finish. Tough but without being too thick.

£45 for a frame & forks too for a dip, blast and color inc all masking.

This and my Caldera looked better than new post paint!

Re: New Build >> Lee Cougan Hardcore

I think it is a great looking frame, I was tempted myself. Build looks good so far.
