Mystery Bike

Has anybody got an idea of the make of this bike? It was sold to me as a Ribble cycle but I’m not convinced.

That’s pretty awful welding on those rear dropouts & wouldn’t give me confidence in riding that very far.....
 
531 is steel and would be lugged not welded.
It looks like the sort of frame that many shops bought in bulk from Taiwan. They were all built to a high standard, the only thing missing being the name. But people don't want old Alu frames, rightly or wrongly.

By the way, that frame has what appears to be a severe crack at the bottom of the head tube. I would check carefully and scrap the frame if in ANY doubt.

Looks like cracks at both ends of the head tube. Did someone try to force in an oversize headset or not clean the inside of paint before fitting the headset?
