Well, the covenience control unit is fubar - cleaned the terminals, no signs of water ingress but still doesnt work properly - someone with a Golf with the same issues:
bout a month ago the alarm kept going off as soon as you pressed unlock on the remote, in the end I disconnected the siren, thinking it may be the internal batteries failing and intended to replace it.
Days afterwards the alarm LED on the door kept flashing after the car was unlocked (but stopped flashing with another press of the remote) - (occasionally only had one door opening before the other - as if selective unlocking was enabled) - however after a drive the locking behavior seemed fine.
Over the past 2 weeks the remote 99% of the time will not work at all, to open the car I use the key in the lock (both doors unlock and interior light comes on), then have to press unlock on the remote (while key is in the door) to stop the alarm LED flashing.
Very occasionally after a drive (i.e this morning) the remote does work. or maybe when the cars been in the sun, and the car unlocks and unarms perfectly.
