Thanks for that. Had been looking at others photos too and came to a similar conclusion.

I'm gussing the seat post shim will be the tricky issue. Has someone mentioned using a coke can!!

Why if it is 27.6
then you have the choice of 25.0 to 27.6 shim (USE for example)
26.8 to 27.6 shim (brand-X for example)
and even better a 27.2 (aka very common post size) to 27.6 shim.
Easier than buying a seatpost in that size and a bigger choice.
Of course, assuming it is the same size as mine (3rd production*) and the 4th production ,same as yours, but that the shim came out of

*I've tried it and it fits fine, I cannot ride it to test it though

The post I have tried is a 27.2 so I need to shim to 27.6. I have just looked on CRC website and can't find the suitable size.

So may have to try the coke/ sardine can method :? :?

Thanks for all the help.

I use a 27.2 XT one in mine with no problems (did use the coke can shim method on an old post and it slipped alarmingly at times. Not a good feeling suddenly falling).

The front mech is def 31.8, not sure of any other measurements (BB etc.) and definitely stick with Pace (I have 1.25'' ones on mine, looks perfect).

I have a threaded XT (M740 Cartridge type) for not lots if youre stuck too? I have a NOS XT M736 ready to go in mine, keep a look out as they are still around.

Enjoy the bike!

Thanks for all the top tips.

Carge, just bought the mech indicated so thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

May leave the seatpost until I can try it properly.

If you're after a 31.8 top pull XT M739 front mech, have a look at...

I got one from this guy - lovely - mint boxed - and under £14!!
That's the wrong sort of mech, he need the other style else it'll be clamping on the over section. So if you have bought it, give the cage a hit with a hammer to shape it :D
