My Orange Aluminium O - the inch and a quarter dilemma.

Sorry for not replying sooner, just found where the post had been moved to.

Had a PM re some Pace RC35's so may look at pursuing these first.

NorthernDave, thanks for the offer, may get back to you if if Plan A fails.

I have the original headset, bar the crown race, any idea where I may get a crown race or any one have a spare in their parts bin?? Seems a shame to get a whole new headset for want of a crown race.

Thanks for your help guys....

Cool, just let me know, they're sitting gathering considerable dust here. Is this particular O the one that went super cheap on ebay last week? I thin k the seller was also selling a set of RC35's that user to be on it and i even remember seeing this bike for sale full earlier on this year i think. Your seller might have just not taken the crown race off when he broke the bike. might be worth a try.

Not sure I'm in-tune with prices to judge a bargain.

But I was happy with the price I paid. Paint is in good nic and the BB looks almost new.

I will try contacting the seller to see if he has the crown race.

Cheers.

Not bad at all, it looks in good shape, has decent decals and 40 quid is pretty good going. The grey version also looks well cool in my opinion.

You would definitely be looking at Mag 21's if keeping it period but personally I would go with some pace RC35's of the same era, especially with that colour frame... There has been some 1 1/4" versions both on here and Ebay - £70-80 max should snare you a decent set with good elastomers, plus there is a member called justbackdated on here who is the resident pace service man and can help with bits and pieces that you may need for them. Good luck

Thanks for the offer of reducers but I'm going to try and stick to 1 1/4" if I can.

I contacted the Ebay seller of the frame and thinks he's found the crown race and is posting it out, but he wasn't sure what a crown race was. Fingers crossed it is the missing part and not a piece of his central heating boiler.

Still waiting for a reply on some RC35's in inch and a quarter, if I bought some RC35 or 36's in 1 1/8" can you just replace the steerer tube for an 1 1/4" version??

Would RC36's be appropriate for this build? I would like RC30's but they seem to go for more money than RC35's.... and a little more than I want to spend.

There's some Manitou 1s just gone up on here with a 1 1/4 steerer

That's what I had on my AluO before I put the RC-35 on them.

Somewhere at home I also have the original rigid Orange forks that came with my AluO - they've got to be virtually mint as the Manitous were fitted almost straight away. Dunno if I want to sell them though :?

Sorry BBB - but while you were typing, I think he's read the post AND dibbed them!
