My first "name this frame" thread!!

Ok I got this frame recently, and I have no idea what it is.
It came with no decals, just lacquered. I've removed the lacquer and given it a brushed finish (not quite complete). It weighs 3lb 13oz exactly (feels really light) in this 18" C-t or 16" C-C size.
Box section rear stays, disc Brakr mount and canti too (but no canti bridge). Unusual down tube - huge tear drop shape with flattened bit at the bottom. Nice welding, looks like a nicely shaped (double butted maybe?) main frame. 1.125 headset.
I have my guesses but I'm not saying so I don't pusuade you down one path.

Looks fairly generic to me, seen a few on eBay I think, but I could be wrong.

Very similar to some Giants I see at work.

It had some good kit on it when I got it - XT, Middleburn. I was thinking maybe an early Merlin Malt 4? I'm sure I recognise the downtime as a Merlin and the current Malt 4 is slightly similar - But that's not a good guide an I can't find a picture of the earlier ones.
The weight must indicate it's half decent.

Had a look round on the tinterweb and none of the Carrera Krakens are similar. :-/

Actually carreras are pretty good for their price, but no, the name doesn't boost their 2nd hand value.... ;-)
