Went round last night to pick up a NOS set of M535 pedals and was chatting with the seller. Nice fellow, and as I was leaving he says "You know I have another set of those pedals if you want" So I leave with the two sets and later on I open up the very worn boxes for a closer inspection when I noticed that one box had two left pedals and the other had two right pedals. Gawd, If I had declined the second set I would literally have two left feet!

When you think about it, it would have played out the same in the end if you had have walked out with the one mismatched set. Him remembering the second set while you were there basically saved you a second trip to his house after you discovered the mistake.

A good story would have been you got home with one set of mismatched pedals, someone else responded to the ad in the meantime and bought the other set, and you had to drive to Compton to do a R-L pedal swap with the other party.

How about, someone in the UK bought the other pair and the seller agreed to ship them, and you had to fly out and......

Crap story, actually, but it might make a good* film.

Just fit a right hand crank arm on the left, without chainrings, problem solved.
