Hi,
I acquired a dark purple Courier Comp frame and forks for £10 yesterday and have attached some parts from an Aussie Avanti Hammer I had laying about. My sad old Courier Comp, burgundy crackle finish, in bits in the shed has cantilever brakes and this new acquisition is clearly a V-brake version. My questions are - What year is this likely to be? I'm not happy with my rear brake cable routing and fiment, is it right or can it be improved?

But there's nowhere for a cable hanger to fit or am I missing some part?

Cable hanger 'hangs' on the wire above the canti's...

you're trying to fit v-brakes via a cable guide designed to centre the cable inner for cantilever brakes

The easiest thing to do is run some cable out from the back of the top tube cable stop all the way back to the v-brake noodle

Thank you one and all. I'll have no truck with cantis so as I'm running 1X8 at present I'll run the brake cable via the redundant front derailleur cable mounts on the crossbar and Bob will be my uncle. I've bodged a 26.0mm seat post in at the moment with a strip of beer can as a shim so I just need a 26.8mm seatpost and a star nut and my life will be complete. Ebay here I come.
