Re: Mr.T's Defiant

Me neither, still need to decide on a color(s).

So not much progress to report, though I did manage to pull the stickers from the crank.

I know, they are looking quite dirty

Re:

I'm really liking the 2 color fade and the way it visually ties the swingarm to the frame.

A few color options below. I'm still liking the blue-teal.

Re:

Very interesting build 8)

IMO any of those colour schemes look great , except the pink/purple one . That should just be for girlie bikes

I wasn't familiar with this frame design , really like it . Are there no many of these bikes around ? A fork with a 1 1/4" threaded steerer must be quite rare too . Did you manage to source new bushings ? And why oversize pivot ?
The actual fading on the paint is lovely , with a subtle fade at the top of the seat tube too 8)

Thanks Mike, i'm really fond of the bike as well!

Boulder Gazelle's (which mine is, still need to figure out how to change my topic name) seem to all have the 1 1/4" headtube, whereas as the redesign (Defiant) switched to a 1 1/8". There are other, mostly subtle, changes as well. I'm hoping to collect enough serial numbers to identify the changes and create a timeline.

The reason behind the oversize pivot axle is because the axle and bushings have developed some play. The easiest solution is to have a new axle made and the bronze bushings to be bored to match the new axle. It isn't as big of a deal as it sounds and I hope to have the repair completed soon.

Re:

Cool ,

Looking forward to more updates . FWIW I like the two tone blue , but prefer the green/yellow fade as it's rarely used . Oh and the red/orange too . I like the vibrant colours
