Mr Shred says get the Funk outta here..

Re:

Thanks, I might put up a new post asking for fork ideas/suggestions.

My frame is from 1989/90 i.e. when top pull mechs didn't exist or at least were hard to come by, so a bit of adaptation was required... Unlike your frame I don't have a cable stop on the seat tube, so you have to use a special part that fits into the mech (see photo). The cable then runs down to the hole (on the BB shell) where it's clamped.

A cable stop and roller means you can use a standard bottom pull mech without the modification.

Quick question mate,on yours is there meant to be a pulley which screws into the back of the seat tube near the bb for a bottom pull mech? It's the only thing i can think of why they'd put the hole there,if so i ain't got a pulley and where can i find one or can you run a top pull mech?

I've a pulley wheel left over from a Yeti build if you need one
What size bolt does yours take?

Re:

Swede, any pictures of yours or a link so as not to clog up spanky's thread?

Mine has a roller on the seat tube just above the BB, think they are mostly universal fit?

Cheers mate, not sure what size it is i'll have to have a check,it looked about the size of a normal allen bolt to clamp your bars if that makes sense :)

Cheers for that info Swede,it makes sense now just need to find the right size XTR mech now, mines a 31.8mm.

Sure; here's mine. Always feel a little uncomfortable dumping photos of other bikes in other build threads  .
