Mountain Goat Whiskeytown Racer full suspension

I don't get it. I know a lot of stuff was crap back in the day, but surely the folks working for a company with a reputation as high as Mountain Goat would have known that the bike was crap before it made production. Or am I being totally naive?

I can only assume it was an experiment that er.....went wrong. :(

No experiment... it was the senior thesis of an engineer student who worked for Jeff L. Jeff thought high things of him and threw some weight behind the design. Its kinda a sad story, I hear it was one of the factors that led to the demise of the original MG.

I wrote more in an MTBR thread a few months back.

Or was it about year ago.... damn. Time.

Hey ya bunch of barstewards- lay off the bike people at Proflex

Sure they're maybe not as refined a Full bouncer as some of the new fangled gubbins that kicks around today  but I think they pretty much held there own BITD- maybe a bit mass produced for some folk but they did/still do work which is more than can be said for your more boutique bikes- pointing no thumbshifters.

I love 'em can't you tell, show them the money, show them the money, show them....

Thank you- rant over!

Off to take ma pill

I've got nothing but love for Proflex. I owned and raced one. They sucked. But restoring one brought me to this site [looking for new elastomers for this].

My first retro build!

Now that is a nice looking bike 8)

I had the red and yellow 656 and I really like the look and loved the ride but to be honest, I have never raced so will defer and bow down before your more experianced cleat wearing feet

now the beast- that is a proper bike
