Moulding body parts (non-pervy!!)

I think face would be easier.. there's vids on the net that make it look quite simple using alginate...

To make the initial mould of your hands or face
Recent case of a student[i think it was a student :?] attempting to make casts of his hands.
He pours the plaster into a large bucket and puts his hands in.
The heat generated by the setting plaster was so intense he had to have both hands amputated, and because plaster of paris sets so quickly he was unable to pull his hands free.
Not a fun 1/2 hour  and nothing you can do about it.

Now they mostly use fibreglass bandages in hospitals .. but modroc is the old plaster cast bandage and is used quite extensively so must be pretty safe (I guess because you don't plunge your parts into a bucket of the stuff)..

murdoc must be what im thinking of
the 'webbing' that is soaked in white liquid that sets
i.e plaster cast for your arm

dont suppose you kept any casts of your arm that have been choppe off?

No.. they binned all the old casts (and to be fair, there was only a back slab or 2).. kept all the metalware they took out over the years though..

:) Ian your lucky they wouldn't let me keep the titanuim rods and carbon fibre brace stuff!.

just think I could have built a bike with it :D

Last time I went in they told me I wouldn't be able to keep any metalware but they didn't remove any so that was ok..

Next time I go under the knife will be at a different hospital under a different sturgeon, if I bang on about it enough I'm hoping I get to keep any removed hardware.

Not sure I'm thinking about this 'exo-skeleton' thing the right way.. I was planning something that went all the way round, kinda like a sleeve.. but I think a 2/3 coverage would be better.
