More eBay help required.....

So I purchased an item on eBay and haven't received it yet. That was 2 weeks ago. Seller never answered my message initially, took him around 5 days claimed he was away with work then on Sunday past said the item was posted and it's still not here. I've sent him around 6 messages and only been responded to twice and am now thinking of complaining to eBay. Is there anything I should be aware of before I go down this path?

Ask him for a tracking number.

If you hear nothing in 48hrs, raise an 'item not received' against him, and as IDB says, then one of two things will happen.

As stated...just start a dispute. If the item doesn't arrive claim for the cost including shipping...I have and won, and I think that's the Ebay rules.
If the seller has shipped correctly he/she will be covered, if they havn't shipped correctly...their loss, shouldn't be yours.

true true, only i'm underage and shouldn't sell on the 'bay, fortunately the account's not in my name

I've never had any luck recouping postage.. only had to travel this path 3 or 4 times and have always had refund of postage as well as purchase price refused by ebay

I must be lucky then...or a gob-sh*te
I'm sure somewhere there is some rule in Ebay that says sellers of items that are significantly at odds which description, or damaged etc have to pay return postage costs as well as a full refund.


Incidentally....long distance selling rules also (well, not also as Ebay are ruled by themselves it seems) clearly state that full refunds are due if items bought are not suitable.
For Example...buy a bike from CRC....don't like it for whatever reason...you are fully entitled to a full refund including the postage.

Whenever I've not received something from ebay (which isn't very often) I've always been refunded the full amount.

Quite rightly - you're entitled to be put back where you were. The seller has a contract / dealings with the carrier, not the buyer, the buyer just gets whatever payment they made, paid back to them - or at least that's the way it's always worked for me.
