Modolo Kronos brakes, prototype or 1st series?

I just bought a pair of Modolo Kronos brake calipers which are different from the regular ones. They have a one piece red plastic button...

...that I had only seen before in a picture from the 1981 EICMA show in one of my old magazines and on the brakeset boxes.

The back of the caliper is more rounded than the later ones and the numbers on the back read P03 and P72, which may suggest prototypes?

Does anyone know more about them?

NB the levers are identical to the later ones.

I found another picture and something that looks to be the predecessor of the later rubber cover on LFGSS: http://www.lfgss.com/post3661288-78286.html

...and some equally ahead-of-its-time French company... 8)

From the early 1980's like the Kronos' and the first factory pre-built wheelset ever AFAIK...
