but have you seen the size of the galaxy?
it nearly is a laptop!!

It does look huge lol and so far of any mobile coming out in the next few months it seems to hold the best specs never been this undecided on a phone

Instant poll fail not adding symbian given it's still a major player. Have updated it for you.

Had an android phone for a bit. UI was nice, apps great, all quite intuitive but the email client wasn't good and couldn't get on with the touchscreen vs qwerty so switched back to my E72. Symbian may be frustrating on occasion but for me the fact the battery could last past tea time the exchange client was far better and it had a qwerty for the email was a winner. Plus it was better at actually phone calls, anyone remember those?

Don't think I'd get another symbian though, esp given Nokia have announced their tie up with windows. Makes the E7 a bit of a dead fish imho. Been a nokia fan for years, if only they could make their s/w as good as their h/w.

I'm currently on my second Android phone, a Samsung Galaxy S after having a HTC Magic. I would definitely recommend them. iPhone owners will say they have more apps, but Android has all the useful ones you'll need. Support is great with a few good forums to ask questions in.

If you are wanting an iPhone I would suggest waiting for the new one, otherwise you'll be tied in to a long contract on an old phone.

I wouldn't bother with Symbian, I think Nokia are pretty close to letting it die and Windows I don't really know much about, possibly for a business user who doesn't have Blackberry it may be useful.

Regarding the size of the Samsung Galaxy, mine is slightly larger than an iPhone but still sits happily in any pocket I have. Having the big screen is really good.
The huge benefit of Android is having a Google account with all your email, contacts and calendar in the cloud, meaning you don't need to worry about your phone failing, or having to dock with iTunes to update anything.
As for the battery, once you've played with the fancy bits and turned them off the battery lasts for at least a day easily. I take my phone off charge when I leave work on Friday and go to my girlfriends, switch it off when I go to bed and it's still alive when I get home on Sunday evening.

HTC Desire HD.... Pleased with it. Also liked my Nokia 5800 apart from its crappy camera - until the screen cracked after I dropped it....

Wouldn't touch I-phone with a barge pole. After 4 years of me poking him, my IT geek mate has finally also seen the light and gone Android.

iphones suck
as i said - gimmicks
theyve only ever been 'ahead' due to the amount of crappy apps that can be bought
i get thouands (at least) with my symbian phone - and the same applies to any really, you just need to search outside of these so called 'markets'

galaxy s isnt all that much better than my vivaz  im sure i could run most things that phone can

im with john - nokias are excellent but they did lose the effort with symbian and now it is going to be confined to the history books i think
but theyre hardware is awesome (what does the iphone boast? amazing camera  )
they didnt even havve a camera for the first couple  surely that shouldve been smart phone sacriledge
size of glaxy s if its only a bit bigger than iphone - i find iphones big (you can get pocket pc's of a similar size)
i think theyre really at the limit size wise, mine a least.

if you really wanted lots of apps you could learn to code/program or whatever
people dont realise this is all people are doing
there is always python - at least for symbian (which makes it slightly less dead)

sorry im quite opinionated  i feel its a topic people just flush cash away for, because they dont put enough effort in. its your money folks!

Apple aren't alone in pushing the camera above other (more important?) features.. recent Nokia ad on telly made a big deal out it having the best camera of any phone.. .. ..

Was 100% Nokia until the N95 killed it for me..

Only really interested in camera and internet from a phone now (and am totally aware how totally ridiculous that sounds  )...

I'm exactly the same... Actually hate using a phone as a phone. I prefer to talk to people face to face.

I have a Nexus S, my second Android phone.. It's vanilla Android so no Sense UI, Touch Flow or any of that gubbins. But it's also Google Experience so you get the first software updates as soon as Google put them out.
Use it for logging my rides with Cardiotrainer. That'll create a map of your ride including distance travelled, time, heigh climbed, estimated calories burned.
Nice to keep a log.

I've had it six weeks and placed about 2 calls on it.
