Mismatched wheels

I think having mismatched wheels could possibly drive me a little insane but it seems quite common... any particular reason??

Depends how mismatched they are...

I was actually referring to rims/hubs (but not so much on the hubbage) from different manufacturers (but I think you knew that already ;) )

I don't think one should get too OCD about it...my SS has two different wheels, rear is a Hope SS hub. But both are nice wheels of simillar quality and appearance. I don't think I'd be happy riding a bike with completely odd looking wheels, though.

I know its a bugger isn't it....all those cogs on my back wheel, ruining the look, when the front doesn't have any!

and when I take them off the back I can't seem to go anywhere!

My OCD says they have to be matched, all our wheel sets in the house are matched, weird one this.

Carl.

I know exactly what you mean by the way. I get anxious when my valve caps don't match the colour of my bike.
But this was covered in a poll a while ago.

I think I could be ok with hubs not matching but they'd have to be similar.. my rims would have to be matching. As would dustcaps..

Possible exception could be if the frame was 2-colour and the rims matched the frame colours.

Not fussed about brakes though.. will be V brakes on the Marin when the springy forks go on, but may keep the canti's on the back..

Let me turn that question on its head.

Why should rims match? The rear wheel is under more than twice as much load. The front wheel is dishless.

Have you noticed how much more common it is for a back wheel to be buckled?

If I ever get a bike that I decide I want to keep forever, it'll have 32/36 spoking. It would have 40 hole spoking on the back wheel if I could get rims like that.
