Mint 753 Zinn!!!

Surely the real reason for the short steep hike in bids is that rare and powerful onboard computer its boasting.

I had a FAB yesterday, but the shop does sell mini-milks... next time.

Great bike .

but surely shill bidding .

nobody would be daft enough to bid up to £1000 in 2 days :?: :?

Shill bidding doesn't usually involve 7 different bidders.
Someone wants this!
And it seems to have dissuaded a few here...

The brazing on a zinn is badgers arse rough compared to a overburys, roberts, TT ritchey etc.

Not in my experience.

just basing it on what I've seen/handled in support of LGFs statement. I had a zinn briefly a year or so back, lovely bike don't get me wrong but the craftsmanship that went into building it isn't on the same level as my TT built fisher or Land Shark - the fillet brazed joints were not as smooth/uniform IMO.

I'm not surprised this zinn is where it is, pretty sure it'll go for £1250 to £1500, maybe more, as there are at least two people who want it bad plus some others lurking watching them wave their bidding c0cks around! ;)

As for value many kleins go for that, some already cracked(!), this Zinn is iconic for a lot of us in the UK and will out last any prospective owners too!

I wouldnt be surprised to see the 2 high bidders pull out last minute leaving it to a "mate" with a silly low price.

This was my first thought on the auction, but they don't have a history of bid retractions so I'm guessing it is genuine.

The early high bids are probably two people that want the bike and are trying to make sure the seller doesn't end it early and sell it off Ebay.

Mind you I'm suprised Ebay haven't pulled it for keyword spamming yet.

EDIT.

Both of the highest bidders have had retractions in the last 6 months, I was looking at the auction when it was a grand, not a grand and a half. Jerky could well be right, however I suspect they will need to go higher than that to make sure no one bids.

Well, I'm out. I never thought it would reach that price especially with over 4 days left. It would have been lovely to have but I will stick with the one I have. Wouldn't want to be greedy!!

Think I'll go for a Roberts to diversify the collection a little :-)

Absolutely, but then Tom and John have been building bikes for a long time, and have produced many more than Andy ever did. The reason the Zinn is so feted, and desired is not because it has a stand-out, spoil-your-underpants, high quality frame, but because they built a few, for a short period of time, and they were a quality build with nice paintwork and supported by some good reviews and a good racer in the team. Because there are very few about, and the ones there are are mint, and cause a bit of a stir the 'community' has put them on a pedestal. The 'value' placed on them is perhaps undeserved if you look at it in a level-headed pragmatic sense, but we dont think like that do we? If we did then there wouldnt be (literally) a pile of carbon tubes on eBay getting everyone excited, and y'all wouldnt be selling cable hangers for £120 a pair.

For what its worth, I dont think its shill bidding.
