Saying that, look what people are bidding for a few sections of carbon tube.
Also, my mate just spent £2800 on a mid range modern bike, so each to their own.

It could well be a few people who really want it.
I bid almost 3 times the amount that I actualy won my Overbury's for, because I really wanted it.
