Picked this up in the summer but need to make some space so needs to go I'm unsure of year possibly an 85/86?
It's 17 inch BB to TT and has 21 inch top tube.would make a good cruiser
Has some marks etc no dents.
It's been stripped down bearings changed and new cables and brake pads.
Lots of cool period parts slingshot stem, layback fluted seat post.shimano friction thumbies, brakes and levers.fired a Set of stx wheels,a newer rear derailleur and bars on it to get it going.
I'm looking for £100 picked up from Falkirk. Can post with parcel force for £30.any questions just ask IMG20221113153413.webp IMG20221113153459.webp IMG20221113153431.webp cheers Carl

I'm definitely interested in this! Could you send me a PM? I can't seem to send one as I'm a new member. Thanks! :)

This is my first retro MTB project and I'm really excited to build it into my cruiser / comfy adventure bike, I'll definitely document and share the process 😄

Congrats! and I'm also interested to see more details.

Up to you, but i personally wouldn't change too much, "comfy adventure bike" sounds a bit like you have plans for a re-build.
This is a very early bike, from what i can see in very good condition and almost with all original parts (other than saddle and tires). Owning this now comes with a bit of burden to preserve it, or at least having a guilty conscience ;)

Attaching also a picture form the 1985 brochure, not exactly your bike, but very close.
(it might be rather 86 model, --> 87 brochure at Mombat)

As you can see easily, also this guy on the picture seem to be a proud owner. Looking forward to see you next to this bike in a similar style.

Reckon it'll be plenty comfy already mate

That stem and bar combo, perfect comfy ATB.

I'd just get a comfier saddle and then ride it into the woods and never return, settling in a hollow tree tunk, an all terrain hermit, cycling only to forage. Then die of malnutrition. But that's just me.
