The problem with internet forums is that they're treated as being 'mates in a pub sharing a laugh'.

What should they be if not that?

My point is they aren't that. You can't apply the same rules as you would at the pub.

Isn't this all clearly a reaction to the media portrayal of him after his death? If the coverage had been less biased in one way there wouldn't have been the backlash towards the other.

And clearly a difference between questioning someone's martyrdom and making jokes about them.

OK, so what's more outrageous - jokes about his relationships with children or how he has been allowed to conduct his life because of his celebrity?

Essentially he has been forgiven everything due to his artistic genius.

As for your question, I'd rather he were the subject of ridicule than being idolised.

Completely editing peoples posts is a little off colour, the only time I have edited anothers post as a moderator is on a gamming forum which genuinely is frequently visited by people under 18, and even then it was only to remove peoples attempts to get around the swear words filter.

I mean I would be rather supprised if we had any members on here under 18.

I was sad to hear of his death, but my god you should be able to make a joke about it!

I don't think some of the jokes posted today would be exceptable at anytime on here.

I think pickle is taking the only stance open to a mod' that thinks about ALL forum users. Haters can vent their anger in lots of other ways.
