Merckx Corsa Extra sizing

Happy New Year gents.

My Team Hitachi frame arrived yesterday so now it's time to begin the winter project. Two immediate questions: 1) anything special I need to know about the fork threading (I'm assuming it's not British threading)? 2) The frame didn't arrive with a seat binder bolt (I assumed it wouldn't) so I'm guessing a Campy 8x19mm bolt will do?

Cheers.

i'm dredging my memory, but as far as i can remember, british and italian fork threads are the same. somebody correct me if i'm wrong on that one!

as far as your seat binder bolt - there can be only one . .

It'll be built up w Dura-Ace 7402. I've got an XA stem and 66-44 bar on its way to me as well. Wheels are TBD (depending on either what I can find built or NOS I can purchase to have built).

Not sure what the deal with the missing transfers is, maybe something to do with the fact it was a pro frame?

Re:

aye, more than likely but i'd be certain that columbus would have their advertising on it at least. dura ace on this frame will be very nice indeed. make sure you get some nice period gp4. GL330, ambrosio rims fitted to those hubs . . nothing else looks so good on that era of bike ..

Well therein lays the mystery to date - what the heck is the tubing on this thing. The serial number indicates a professional frame and they seem to be anything from 531 to TSX to SLX...

Re:

carefully stick a finger inside the bottom bracket shell and up into the tubes. you should feel the tube wall rifling if it's SLX/ TSX and it's more than likely it will be one or t'other.

i have a funny feeling that your frame, like mine is too old to have been the slightly lighter TSX but someone here just might prove me wrong on that one!

Aside from a lot of grease, the down tube seems to have some linear "ridges" running the length of the tube. Is that what you mean by rifling?
