Re:

and a couple of rolls of this tape in white should see it done:

it's much better than the tradional "bike ribbon" as the glue doesn't perish and gaps in the tape don't appear as you grovel up long climbs!
great stuff and a good find on ebay . .

Fellas,
I'm about done the build (pics to follow) but the rear shifting seems just a bit wonky. I'm using 4mm SIS housing, wondering if I should use 5mm?
As for the front shifting, should the shift lever spin (forward) past parallel to the downtube? If I keep pushing, the shifter will keep going until it's pointing straight down (literally). The shifters were purchased NOS, still in the box, but the box was open so not sure if the every single part was included...

Not sure how you've set the shifter but no, it shouldn't be going that far forward.
Maybe I'm reading that wrong but neither lever should go that far round.
Stick a pic up if you can, I'm just having trouble visualizing it that far round.

I have bought a second set of wheels for mine and decided to raid the parts box and change things around for a while, especially as mine has been in its current spec for near on 13 years.
I dug out a mixture of 7400 and 7403 with a choice of STI or downtube so pretty much right to go. Might just try a few different setups out in the next few weeks. Just need a bottom bracket, any ideas on the length you guys have fitted for use with 7400 chainset.
Most is in decent condition, I have some brackes and mechs from 7700 DA as well so could always mix that with my current Ultegra gear.
random thoughts I thought I'd share :)

Hi mate
I think you have them on the adjusters 180 degree out, Looking at my Long Haul Trucker in the next room my adjuster is sitting pionting up. Is the tension set properly? There is a small washer with a tab on it from memory, maybe that is round the wrong way.
I am busy for the next hour but I will pull mine apart and take a picture so you can check.

Not sure if this is the correct model but if not a google search should show up a parts diagram that may help.

But your shifter should not turn that far round.

As far as BB goes, Sheldon comes to the rescue again!
