Ok, here we go...... The Something Olympic.

It started off as a Dawes Olympic, but that could not be as they didn't make one, so....

The consensus was that it was a Holdsworth as the corner of the badge could just be seen. So i went to collect the Holdsworth Olympic and It was a Holdsworth......... until I started to have a better look.



Looks like a Holdsworth.


FB 3 piece hubs, not the Campagnolo GS as first thought, but close enough......



A bit of a nice result there with the pedals


CLB ALP levers and High life callipers. Nice



Is this the death stem ? It's got got a vertical bolt.

Something continental? The tops of the seat stays look 'foreign', the lugs aren't familiar and the 'Coppi' headset?

Hmmm, well that's OK I'll use it for the Bravo Scozia and then put the parts on the Super Vigorelli when it comes back from Argos.
How about that stem, is it one of the "Death Stems" or is it safe to use ?

If you pull the stem out and it has two slots cut in the base of the stem for the expander bolt, then its a 'death stem'.

I thought we had the mystery bike solved. Never seen a W. F. Holdsworth 'Renovated' frame before.

The bottom bracket cup looks British, the cast lugs have had a lot of work, but the seat cluster and frame number is very odd.
Some detail pics of fork crown, front and rear ends might help.
So somewhere using british components in a different way, is it possibly Australian, just a suggestion. Did Malvern Star disfigure frames with that sort of frame number?

I've not seen a Malvern Star with that type of numbering before.

It seems to have typical parts you would use in the UK early 50s, the chainset being a bit dated by then. The FB hubs were the best you could buy.
The solid centre pedals from constrictor were previously made by BSA, and considered second to Chater. So where was the frame made? And by someone who put in a lot of time filing what may be brampton cast lugs.

Well that's got us all wondering, I did see another renovated Holdsworth transfer on my internet wanderings yesterday, I'll try and find it again....

Rear ends are Campagnolo, not sure what the front are.

It's a 1000 miles away again as I'm back home now,so popping to the shed to take a "butchers" is out till December :roll:

The Ekla lugs look right, I should have remembered , I have access to 1952 Brown Bros on line.
