Massive but tastefully specced Caygill tour /rando Shrewsbury

Do you think I could get around it using a wedge/quill seat post or would that be a bad idea?
I think its going to stress the top of the seat tube and flare it further open if you used a quill seatpost.

I would try Winston Vaz (Varonha Frameworks). He lists seat lug repair as one of his services. A whole new seat tube from £160. Of course you're going to need paint after that. His brother Mario (works upstairs from him) might be able to help there...not sure if he retired though. Both of them worked at Holdsworthy in Anerley and Winston worked for Roberts also.

Worth sending him a pic and asking.

Have you tried contacting the seller, I realise he is under no obligation to help you out but this seems like really bad luck and if I'd sold a bike to someone at this sort of price and this happened I'd feel I'd like to try to help out in some way.

The way he had spent time on the ad he came across as a real bike geek rather than someone trying to make a quick buck. You never know unless you ask...

Yeah that’s what I was concerned about with a quill :/

Thanks for the recommendation, will get in touch and see what he says

Yeah have given him a message, seemed like a nice guy, I imagine he hasn’t adjusted the seat since he set it to fit him so probably had no idea! hopefully he might be able to help 🤞🏻

Hahaha I’m 6’4” so the size is great. Was riding like a dream on my way home last night but I’ve just been fiddling around with it to adjust the seat to my height and the clamp sheared 😭😭😭

Don’t know if anyone has any advice on whether this is fixable?

Bad luck there, although easily repairable, hopefully you can find someone local to do the repair, if you can't we could easily turn it around in the same day for you, although you would have to ship the bike to us here in Norfolk. Fingers crossed you can find somebody closer but we are here if you can't.
