as for the rim - is it not a M231?
i'd personally got with mavic on it.
and welding a Ringle hub flange back on sounds scary!!
i've had Silver Hope wheels with Mavic 217s on mine until recently when i got some White Industries hubs - they seem even more bling on the polished frame : )
