Magic Ratio for Single Speed. Any Experiences?

Lazy and inept mechanics too...
If you look closely, mine has one as well. I found it after I had alteady shortened the chain using my pin tool.

I'm totally inept at these chain links. Can't get on with them. I've never mounted one properly but had the displeasure and lack of patience to get rid of them when buying bikes. I'm also totally inept at this Shimano must use the special pin from what 9 or 10 speed onwards otherwise the universe will all fold up on itself when riding and you will fall in the San Andreas fault.

Really can't be arsed and getting it going is priority, and then a few spare links taped to the road-side Topeak multi-tool is how I roll.

8 speed chains I think are golden for SS set-ups. Like no fuss. No extra whatsits.

7 or 8 speed was peak everything
Agreed. As seen above the C9 chain is the benchmark for me.
It's sad over on the 'Campag Layoffs' thread to read of their demise. The torque on a 13 speed chain is ridiculous. The whole bike industry is to blame for these innovations no one wants.

Yep, for all Campag's disappointments over the past quarter century, those C9 chains are fab. Improved shifting on several 8sp setups and they seem to last longer than others too. Best chain I've used by some margin (much better than a Rohloff).
