The Trek look's great Velo , i found Thrunton great on the SSE3, sure you will enjoy it

Went for a blast out to Pollock park thismorning on the Klunk, was out for just over two hours, starting to stay out longer on my tod , rode mostly non stop too, also tried the E3 up and down my street for the first time since fitting the new brakes and saddle weeks ago, rides fantastic , dont think i'll ever part with that bike, pretty much settled with the spec.

Found some inspiration for a paint job on the Klunk, Camo , going to do it sponge style like the Mardigras/Rainforest Klein paintjobs, colours on the frame and forks will be black, cream, dark green and mid/light green, with everything else (seatpost, bars etc) black, should look hard as nails and different anyway, it will be Kamo-Klunk

I still love it and it rides great but it's definetely retired from Trail centre duties, had a couple of scares at Inners to convince me to quit hardcore Klunking while i'm still alive , planning a Trail centre beast for next year, possible Kona Stab or Spesh Big hit.

Got out on the Stumpy today.

And for the first time, I properly rode a mountain bike that wasn't made of aluminium (yes, yes, consider me suitably embarassed, etc).

Springy. Chuckable. Floaty and really comfortable. I didn't find the trail tiring at all. I don't know how much is down to the frame, the flex-stem, the tyres or the fact that it's slightly smaller than the Hardrock, but it really is so much nicer to ride. Never felt like I was fighting it, not a single twinge from my back in 2.5 hours, and once I'd mentally adjusted to the cantis, I was almost instantly into the groove.

I just need to get a proper SS cog for the back so it the chain stops jumping off every so often, and it's sorted. What a fantastic bike, I just wish I'd had it ready for Kielder...Now if I can just get some disc brake mounts welded on

Pink cables and grips look the business and I agree a great riding bike, hoping the vega is as poised and half as much fun. Charlie does cogs but might be worth putting a request in the wanted section? How was the ratio, looks like the chain tension is good, BOTM macretro entry? Only a few scabby Ti fats for competition this month.

Oh yeah loving the saddle bag, if it don't fit in it ain't coming is the only way.

the offroad adventures thing is what I got up to in September

- fort william to inverness, a comfortable 2 days or an uncomfortable long 1 day.

I recommend 2 as it gave more time for beer and cakes

Gazz - Ratio was no bad - 36/21, but I reckon 20 would be better. Chainline looks OK, chain tension was fine to begin with, although rear wheel was definitely getting pulled forward a wee bit. Had the chain come off when tight though, so not that.

Need some pics of the Fat, sounds like it's almost done?

yeah know what you mean ZZ, I think track nuts on the rear or tug nuts would stop the wheel moving, The q/r was not strong enough when I was on arran (mind you......... when I put the power down ) and a cog with deep teeth is a must, front and back if poss.


Yo update- Just got the shiny cranks to pick up from kaiser, sort the chain, await a slightly larger headtube decal and it will be done. I do have two wee mechanical issues- a spoke that rotates but does not seem to tighten (or loosen)- dont know how that works? and a rounded bolt ( best Bart voice "I didn't do it") on the avid lever that will need replacing pics soon I hope.

just finished the dale SS road machine tonight- looks awful and TBH handles pretty bad aswell but will be my winter bike so not to bothered- bike is way to small for me, amazed I got round the SSUK event in one piece :shock:
