I am looking at brochure scans and am trying to fathom the difference between M900 and M910, anyone got any definitive answers?

I only want to know because I have had M900 before and would like to use M910 for a period build I have coming up.

Cheers.

The internal spring of the parallel section changed to a coil spring and the SGS size was now an official size (long cage) that's about it.

for some reason I was still on rear mech mode but you'll see the internal spring here http://members.home.nl/children-of-the-korn/RD-M910.htm

910 differences
- The rear mech bits as mentioned
- Hubs became parallax and lost there nice anodising and look tacky now.
- Seatpost was lighter and silver
- STI levers changed, indicators on them and some lever sculpting differences.

Subtle differences that didn't warrant 910 naming
- Cassette was rivited alal 737's and had IG style ramping (ramping/profiling for the way down, seen as you milled away bits on the rear of the cogs)
Even lower down the alterations...
- Ti/Alu bolts on the chainset so nothing you would do after market
- Pads in the canti where cartridge, nothing you wouldn't change aftermarket though.

EDIT to split up a few things.. and well say above link shows all the pictures

Cool, thanks for that. I am probably going XTR cranks, canti's, mechs and shifters and Hope for the hubs, so mix and match M900 M910 would be okay.

Cheers.

Hey I have a m910 wheelset… I resent your comment! Although not as elegant as the m900, I wouldn't go as far as calling them tacky by a long shot!

As for the seatpost the M900 was made of cromo and black. Still very light.
M910 of easton ea70 alu.

I have a m900 that is just to small for my bike :(
it´s a lovely post.

What a hub that if the sticker came off you'd be hard to tell it from an Alivio hub... and they thought a big rubber bung on the end would look good.

Probably looks better in the flesh though.

Gotta agree with Frank on this one, m910 hubs are not tacky. I think M910 hubs are the sexiest hubs Shimano made. They look great in person. 8)

They are also very different from Alivio hubs in finish. Comparing an M910 hub to an Alivio paralax is like comparing an M900 to an Exage hub. The shapes may be similar, but side by side, they will never be confused for the other.
