Hi all I have just aquired a Cannondale M800 frame off ebay it is a bit of a mess so i have started to strip the frame down to the metal. i have looked at getting it sprayed but this will cost around £100, I have also looked at getting it powder coated and this will be allot cheaper at £40 and more durable i guess. Are there any downsides to powder coating? is will it make the bike any heavier? I also have a question about the bottom bracket, What size botom bracket will i need? as i have been given a cannondale CODA ex3 crank this is a shimano es fitting, I would like to use that as it is quite light.

cheers graeme

I have a couple more questions

Can i Make it a 9 speed bike?

Where can i get some M800 stickers from?

Thanks again Graeme

Powder coating is stronger but you get less choice of colour .

you can make it 9 speed no problem , and Gil M on here will sort you out some stickers .

Rest I dont know .

welcome to the site and show us some pics . :D

oh i fogot to mention the frame has a greace nipple on the headset tube should i remove it or replace it

Graeme

Out the factory the M800 came with a standard 68mm Shimano LX bottom bracket (M800 was LX groupset throughout) ....not sure what axle length you will need for Coda cranks but I'm sure someone here will advise accordingly :)

That's weird...what purpose would that serve? Randomly spread grease around the steerer tube  :?

If I had a nipple on my head id get it removed...

hehehe i did not realise how funny it sounds. But should i get rid of it and fill up the hole or does it serve a purpose. it is the first bike i have seen with one. does anyone else have this on their bike
