M-Trax Ti 1000 find What's the spec? ((poor) pic added)

Hi,

visited my recycling centre yesterday and discovered the above. Its complete and in reasonable condition but the groupset has been downgraded recently. The seat is stamped Dec 92 so would assume its 93 vintage. Can anyone tell me what the spec should be please?

The biggest problem is the (lacquer?) coating which is cracked and peeling particularly on the Ti bits,the paint underneath is in good nick however, (or Is it a plastic coating as it peels easier than I would have thought lacquer would?) Is this something I need to reapply?

Ah Hah ! its an M-TRAX Ti 1000 as in the post header

It came with the full STX group. I built up a modtro bike using a NOS frame, contemporary XT, SID forks and carbon finishing kit.

Just hoik off the plastic covering, it serves no obvious purpose.

Stx wasn't about in 92/93.....

You would have been looking at possibly LX or exage....

Could be the seat is older than the bike, I have a cromo version from 94 or 95 that came with LX 56x parts...

What colour is yours ??

Boxxer- Mine's red with black Ti. The front mech is black LX, the rear is Alivio (8 speed newish spec), the brake /shifters are period Alivio 21 speed and brakes are silver LX canti's (original?). The cassette is 7 speed black painted cheapy and cranks are bottom of range Shimano with black steel riveted chain rings. Chainrings cassette and sram chain look unused suspect maintenance was abandoned when 7 speed shifter failed as well.

Will do some more component date checking tonight. Is it possible to get a date from a frame number?

Mine is a deep maroon all over with green decals... It may be that ours are the same year just the ti and cromo versions... Would be good to see a piccy

The plastic stuff is indeed plastic stuff, always gets pulled of from what I gather
