Looking for help with my Club Roost VCV

Retro Newbie
I've included a couple of pictures to help: http://imgur.com/gallery/TMLN1rW

I recently received this frame and I'm having a hard time figuring out how the rear suspension system works. It seems there is a cylinder that everything pivots on, but if the swinging arm clamps are locked up tight, it doesn't budge.

Should it pivoting on the cylinder or should it be moving with it? (Picture 1)

Also how would it be lubricated. There's a weird part of frame above the cylinder that doesn't serve any obvious purpose. It had a cap on that I removed and when looking inside there is a hole at the bottom, that I thought maybe feeds the system with some lubricant when filled. But looking through the hole i see blue paint not the metal of the cylinder. (Picture 2)

There's zero information online that I've found. Does anyone have any ideas? Am I on the right track?

Thanks for the help!

Re:

The bit with the cap on hasn't got anything to do with suspension as it's for mounting the front mech (I believe).

There must be some form of Cbushing or bearing that the centre tube rotates with, the bolts you are tightening are simply to ensure that your swing arm is attached to the pivot. Must be something going on with that, not easy to tell from the close up pics how the rest of it looks/works but possibly a bushing that's caked/grime to the max??

Re:

Ok thanks. I did think it was something to do with the front mech but because it's a downhill frame i went against it.

There's no obvious way of taking it all apart to check for bushings or bearings so assume I'm going to have to knock that cylinder out somehow. Doesn't look like it'll be an easy job.

Re:

A lot of older frames are built like this, I've had a few that required pins or tubes pushing out. If you have a similar/same sized tube, try and tap it out. A socket would also do the trick.

If you have something more suitable/less hammery to do it, go down that route.
