Looking for a top spec Xizang for photo/film shoot

New one does look nice, I don't even mind the curved downtube so much, I like the dropouts and the end cap logo.

and just when i had decided... no, I WON"T get one, I won't even get an original one, i'll just spend a load on both my reissue zaskar and arc... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Those are the two things I don't like! The end cap is bit fussy for my liking, although I'll admit that the flat cap found only on the USA made frames of the past would have been inappropriate on an Asia made frame. The drop outs are just a bit generic for my liking.

I do very much like the clean lines of the frame sans rim brake mounts, the tapered head tube doesn't bother me, and if that kink in the tube allows for a 100mm fork, I'm all for it. I also really like the decals, very understated, I wonder if GT are selling spare sets?

Dont really understand why GT says that the Xizang is going to come out as 29er and then launches this 26" even if its only for Magazine Test or other thing that we dont know.

I think they should still give the Option to people, launch a new Style(29er) but keep the Great Original 26".

In Portugal last year they wore the Last ones Showing and having available Bikes so I hope I dont see GT´s again and only Online :(

But this subject can become kind Of Topic but makes you think.

Hi, this is a little off topic but not wholly. To clarify the UK distributors of GT kindly gave me this frame to use as an XC component test bike, it will be used to develop componentry reviews on all different components.

The fact that only the 29er version is set to be released in the UK is down to GT. As far as I know from the press event I attended it was felt that potential new Xizang owners would fit the 29 inch market.

I posted on the forum as I knew how well regarded the old Xizang was and expected, and have received, a good amount of interest in this project.

Hopefully this thread can stay bike focussed as that was the intention.

For info I think late October is going to be a good time for a meet up and ride.

Cheers

Dave
