I'm planning a lghtweight XC build (sub 20lb would be nice), and I do want a squishy front end. I'm a light rider,so flex has never been a big issue for me. The build will be 93/94/95.

What options are out there?

AMP F2/3
Pace RC35AB/XCS (not really sure on the weight of these)
Judy SLs

That's where I run out of ideas. I'm going with the AMPs at the moment, but am open to suggestions?

:?: :?:

drop wadsy a pm.

he likes his light bikes and is a dab hand at customizing sus forks to keep the weight down

hope this helps

stubbsy :D

MAG21 SL (1994) the JUDY was not really around by then (well 1995 they where).

The SL part is important as you need the Alu steerer and have to go ahead.
The brace is a touch lighter and if you go really weenie you can ignore one leg and just use the other.

They can work quite well if you set them up well. Use a beefy hub though to lock them together and don't stint on the Q/R quality. Of course they add weight :( But then any early 90's fork well benefit from a good clamping hub setup.

Leave the oil out of one leg and remove the unneeded bits if you really want

Sub- 20lbs on a retro build?

Anything below 22 lbs was pretty much impossible with a suspension fork BITD.

This should be interesting.

i reckon i could do it. it'd need a feathery alumnium frame, and probably an AMP fork though.

9800 OCLV.

I'm thinking the AMP at the minute. Easy to get hold of, And I think it'd kinda compliment the OCLV frame?

I doubt I'd get it to 20lb, but it's a target. I don't plan on using Retro tyres, but everything else will be.

i have a steel rigid retro that's been 22.2lb with a few reasonable savings still to be made

with a frame maybe 1.5lb lighter, and an AMP fork not much heavier than a P2, i reckon 20lb could be done at a stretch

you'd need revolution spokes though, and titanium loveliness everywhere.

Is that with all 24 gears? :D (This will)

Titanium... or metal matrix.
