quote="al"]Al :D A lover of men and women! :wink:[/quote]

In fact that's far to much infomation for this type of web site

There is me too! I am of the female gender and now I am a Mummy too - hence why I now don't have the money, time or ability to stay awake to tinker with my bike much......

But on the plus side, if I work on the little one well from now I should have a good excuse in a few years time to buy lots of little retro bike kit for her, I hope anyway! Keep her away from the Barbie dolls and all that hideous pink stuff anyway.

My girlfriends a woman LOL  well of course she would be LOL

Anyway with regards to kids, Me and Louise used to do a lot of mountain biking, until we had our first. Louise gave up riding around five years ago after falling pregnant, and when our first was born I found less and less time to ride.

I sold all my bikes and got rid of my workshop and stores (I used to have quite a bit of kit and way too many bikes and stuff).

She still has the last bike I built for her, a 12" Santa Cruz Juliana hard tail. She wouldn't sell even after I sold my Stumpy M4, GT Zasker, Dean Ti, Klein Attitude and Allez E5, and most of the bike components I had.

(At this point I should mention I work with bikes, and have been into MTB since around 1992 or so)

She did store her bike in our loft though and has not used it in all those years.

We both have regrets, her of not riding due to no time due to kids, me at selling stuff I had no room to store after having kids.

And building bikes for kids, well it doesn't seem to interest them, my boy has a little Hotrock, but prefers the Scooter.

Out of all the femail riders I know, none are interested in anything other than a well maintained bike and riding, and only one seems to like nice bits, and now rides fixed only due to partner influence.

Women don't seem to like forums with blokes in them, they inhabit a different plain of conciousness

I wonder if there are women like me that hover around this forum out of interest and don't contribute very much.

I have a Specialized rock hopper of uncertain vintage and ride it occasionally, doing most of my riding on a roadbike (not retro!)

I enjoy the pictures of other people's bikes and enjoyed renovating my son's Zaskar,

And the forum is an interesting insight into the psyche of the male retro cyclist!

"an interesting insight in to the psyche of the male retro cyclist!"

i feel scared!!

i reckon your all spies and you have my girlfriends number to phone her just incase the bike stuff gets out of hand!(again!) :D

i haven't got 2 new frames hidden away at all, honest!! :D she still doesn't know about the aluminium o or the proflex!

Hi CAS,

Interesting! Do you think there are many other female members studying the world of retro geekdom?

I can only appologise for my behaviour, language ,attitude and all round boyishness!

All the best, Al.
