Kuwahara...?

I realise that Kuwahara are a Japanese brand mostly known for BMX and of course supplying the bike that Elliot rode in E.T.
However there appears to be very little information available on their mountain bikes.

I've just picked up a Kuwahara Aries frameset which I suspect is from between 1990 and 1992.
The 90, 91 and 92 German catalogues are in the archive but apart from that there is little else.

Is there anyone out there who has any more information on Kuwahara that they can share...?

Kuwahara made create frames ...
I can not really help with your model.
A mate let me ride his then I had to get one ...currently building it up at the moment "Kuwahara pacer " I will post some pics of build when I get time.

There is a decent thread on MTBR, apart from that theres not alot (that I've found). I've got one thats languishing in the garage, not used it much at all but it is quite nice. I've a build thread on here.

I've seen your 'Shasta' Klaus. Any idea on the model year?
The graphic style and positioning suggests that it's the same year as my 'Aries'.

Thanks Klaus. I'd seen that thread a while back.

I've seen some complete versions of the frame I have with M550 Deore LX. Assuming this was the original spec, it narrows things down to between 1990 and 1992 as I'd previously suggested.
I'm leaning more towards 1992 due to the frame details though.
From the catalogues in the archive, it seems that most of the 1990 and 1991 bikes had lugged head-tubes.
In 1992 most of them didn't.

I'd really just like to get some confirmation on this.

Probably going to build this one up with M500 Exage 500LX.
