It's a bit odd that they were called Koga-Miyata except in Scandinavia (and US?). The spec also differs and my purple pearl 1989-90 frame has brazed cable stops on the down tube. Cant find any catalogues on the net. Was stupid enough to throw out my collection in the late 90's before interwebb took off. Shouldn't done that...

Koga-Miyata and Miyata are two different companies, with own owners, marketing, line up etc. Koga bought their frames from Miyata. Some frames both companies carried, some were unique for one of both brands, for example the e-stay RidgeRunner and MAX tubing FullPro-L road frame for Koga. Finishing was done at the Miyata factory, but paintschemes, decals and some more detailing differed. Miyata did not enter the markets where Koga was active. Miyata is from Japan. Miyata US line up was the same as for Scandanavia. The Japanese market had its own models.

Koga is founded in 1974 by Andries Gaastra a descent from the family behind Batavus. Location: Heerenveen, Netherlands. Miyata is much older. The original rifle manufacturer started with bikes in 1890. An American passenger came along and asked Mr Miyata whether he would be willing to repair his bike. That was were it all started.

On the cable guide I can say that when the frame was issued the major share of the market wasn't convinced brazed steel was the thing. We all thought space age materials had the future. Miyata used that same rivited aluminium guide on their carbon and aluminium models.

All Koga catalogues from 1976 on can be found on their site.

On the specs I can say they will be pretty much the same as with my 1991 TerreRunner Carbolite. In fact the carbon issue of the steel TR. The DX group is already mentioned and moreover there is a Strong post, 'the Tube' stem and Nitto bars. Personally I would go for a nicer seat than the original. Koga had an own issue of Rolls Ergo and Titanio, where especially the Rolls is interesting because you find 'Koga-Miyata' in the metal parts instead of 'Rolls'. Not easy to find however. A normal Rolls would be good and okay seat.

For cockpit and post you could alternatively also very well go for Syncros I would say. Classy and often seen on early 90s Kogas.
