Klein, whats the big deal?

I always thought these bikes were snobby, with their owners looking down their noses at lesser mass production rides. However, I have recently found myself rapidly developing a Klein obsession - and this thread isn't helping!!!

Love the blue/green ones - and the ones with lightening on them. In fact nearly all of them. o.k, all of them.

How much do I need?

I've got a Trek era Klein, and one of the cheapest ones at that. Not that it means it was ever cheap of course, just cheaper.

External cables and naked welds being the biggest difference. And of course made in the wrong place. However the frame is made from Klein tubing, the rear triangle is made in the correct factory though I believe. Stripped the frame weighs around 1.2Kg, i.e not a lot. It is stiff, fast and has super pointy handling. In short a superb frame that rides like a much more expensive bit of stuff. The one issue could be that it is too stiff for long rides.

Factor in that handling with the beautiful finish of the earlier ones and you can understand the fascination.

No one can deny the early ones look beautifully built and the colours are amazing. That alone makes them special to me although I'll probably never buy one.

Wanna go halfs beavis?
