I've decided to get my Kona Kula re painted as its had some very large areas touched up in the past and tbh the look rubbish.
I've had frames powder coated before but this time I want to get a clear coat over the new decals.
Who are people using? Im not looking at Argos as I know they are top dollar!

I’ve found that all the main painters are all the same money thereabouts.

What sort of money are you wanting to spend ?
Probably up to £150 ish
I've used Matt at the Powder Shack for powder coating before but interested to hear others experiences with other painters.

Powder is usually sub £100 and has come on massively. Are you wanting powder or wet paint?

Issue is likely that you will be able to buy a nice condition Kula frame for half what a paint job costs so unless your emotionally attached ……

Im open to powder or wet paint, just want clear coat over decals afterwards.
It's a 94 Kula so pretty rare and I want to keep the original champagne gold colour.

You’ll struggle to find anyone to lacquer over powder unless it’s a clear powder but then that creates issues with decals and heat.

Are you using water slide or vinyl decals? Or do what I did on my Dekerf and go painted decals?

Any wet painter is going to be closer to £300.

I still think buying a nice OE paint frame is the route on something like this. Here’s one just sold for £100 which was nice.

C&G Finishes in Liverpool (via GA Cycles) did a lovely job on my Witcomb.

Yeah, just looked at Black Cat and their base price for an alloy hardtail is £300.
I'd love to find an 18" one, mines a 19.
Decals will probably be vinyl or painted but I'm open to anything tbh.

They do come up fairly regularly (and I’m not even looking for one).

If you trying to keep it cheaper. I’d go for a powder , add decals yourself , and then bribe a local car painter to flick some lacquer over it.
