KHS Montana Team 1993

Nice project. Looks identical to the 1992- 93 frame. Think you’ll have all the Montana Team Boyes watching me included :D

I'm watching with a raised eyebrow (if only we had that emoji :lol: )

There was a Team frame advertised here a few days back - I was tempted to buy it, but was put off as it had rack mounts so it wouldn't have been an exact replica for mine. Think TSC may have bought it in the end.

Re:

Team frame with rackmounts? I thought that was the tell tale sign of a Comp frame?

This doesn’t have them if that doesn’t show in the pics

What is you serial number for comparison?

Re: KHS Montana Team 94 to 93 conversion

Oh, exterior ones. I wonder if they’ve been braised on for practically at some point in its life?

Re:

Schoolboy error! 25.4mm stem obviously for the internal diameter of the forks. Been being aheadsets for too long....

Thought a NOS was too good to be true :(

Re:

I'm not sure where this is heading now. I was thinking of a fairly standard 1993 build but then whilst looking for Mag21s I bumped into some 1997 Judy SLs but surprisingly with a 1' steerer and cantilever hanger but the decent travel and damping of a more 'modern' fork. Not a threaded steerer though, so I'm going for an aheadset, on a bike in the 'wrong' colourway; this is not for the purist that's for sure, but I'm going to make it nice and with decent suspension forks I'm going to ride it.

I've not posted a full thread about it but I did pick up a 2nd Montana Comp bike just best before I got this frame. Not many parts on that are common to the Team, but the rims are. Very little wear on the rims, so they've been stripped ready to lace up to some XTR hubs when I source some.

Time to strip down the Judy', both the internals and the paint

Re:

What will be your colour choice for the Judys? Looking to go gold like the Mag 21s or pink as the rigid fork? (I think pink might look pretty good).
There are some subtle differences between the US and Euro spec / '92 - '93 spec, such as the rims, tyres and pedals - brochure pages attached, which I'm sure you've already seen;
