'Keeper' bikes - what and why

I used to think the Bravado was a keeper

But lack of use or interest changed that, I then revamped the Talera with some nice bits and found i used that more

The FSR is stripped and hung on the wall in retirement

And the Alpinestars is knocking about somewhere slowly rotting away

So all in all i think the only keeper i have is the Talera

My Saracen,

Only recently built but I was always a dream bike for me (way back when you were on your Lizard)

Its not as desirable as others to most people so it would not fetch much but I am kina attached to its rareness. I still ride it even though the posistion is very stange and once used to it its a very nice posotive ride.

Both my Orange and Pace are going nowhere. Both bought new and I just couldn't stand the thought of ever being without them.

We shall see on the Proflex though. Yet to be built up and ridden. My missus would like me to only have one bike as I am 'filling up the spare room with my toys' (3 bikes, 5 guitars)

You only have to PM me mate, and I will gladly come and remove it from your shed if your really not interested

Though i came close a couple of months ago i'll probably
never sell my LTS, had it nearly nine years, it was a dream
bike BITD when i watched Nicco, Mike King etc 8) .

It rides fantastic and fits me like a glove, dont think it'll ever be
100% done though

i have had this one build many years back and i felt like a glove the moment i drove it for the first time.
Since then it took me all over the place,..from my sunday morning tour trips, competions, and as a daily driver with slicks, spinergy wheels, magura's a pace RC35 fork, back in '98 (50km a day) and trying the break my personal best each day ;) and now as retired garage queen with the crown on top when it became BOTM in September,..

Orange Clockwork - fits well rides like a dream and we've been through so much together.

FW Evans - Touring bike, custom made fits like a glove. Has never complaned, has had a new powder coat this year and is being rebuilt as a single speed.

I had to answer this question myself recently. So, here goes

1988 Ritchey Outback - Seller if I need the space
1991 Pace RC100 - Keeper
1993 Pace RC200 - Seller

1999 Cannondale CAAD 2 road bike - Seller / Permaloan to a mate
200x Yeti AS-3 Seller
2007 Moots Zirkel - Keeper

My keeper is my Blizzard, currently a single speed. Bought the frame new in '95 and since then it's seen a whole bunch of parts come and go.

Keeper for the same reasons - we've grown old together and shared lots of adventures in different places... :D

Now that's a cool bike! I love it. :D

Hi,

I had a garage full of keepers a few of years ago,including......

Ritchey annapurna 1983
Ritchey team 1984
Ritchey Softail 1996
Roberts DB 1991
De Kerf softail, nos 1996
Rocky Mountain Altitude 1996
Sunn Exact un disc 1999
Surly 1x1 2000
Orange Clockwork 1991 etc.......

Then came a back injury and the big sell off. Things change kids, if you can keep your collections do so.

My only keeper now is the Surly! Don't know why but its a part of me. :D

Cheers,Al
