What is going on here, the guy is giving a frame away for postage we can all see what is wrong with it. Up to us to fix or hang on wall.

Poor Steve won't want to karma stuff again

With respect I think that you're missing the point of Rody's advice on what constitutes a safe and quality repair.

Sure you could add extra inserts, pins, plates, gussets, welds and whatever else to make the frame virtually indestructible, but at the same time you could double it's weight and kill any ride characteristics.

There is a big difference between aircraft engineering and bicycle engineering, and while I wouldn't doubt the skills, experience and knowledge of an expert in that specific area, I would also hesitate to undermine the input of somebody as skilled, experienced and knowledgeable as Rody is in his.

Neither would I, hence I why I said his frames were works of art - but the same talent that makes craftsmen so good at what they do also makes it virtually impossible for them to merely 'bodge' something together, which quite frankly is all this frame needs! Indeed, my suggestion above would only add all of 4oz or so to the weight of the frame...

Neither did I see anyone criticise Makster on here when he had his broken Rock Lobster repaired, which happened to be somewhat worse than a fractured substandard weld...

 Which is precisely why I decided to Karma it in the first place rather than sell it on - as I believe I alluded to several pages ago...

I can't afford to have it repaired so i decline a number and wish all concerned 'best of luck'

An incredible bit of karma 8) or are you hoping this will stand you in good stead when buying those lottery tickets

I'm in for the bodge job - some plastic ties and a tube of sticko extra should do it :D

Don't forget you also have the option of BlueTac or chewing gum...
