Just dragged my old bike out of the loft...

Before the rise of Ebay and internet forums etc, £100 for an old mountain bike would have been a normal, sell in the pub/local paper/to family type of price. direct marketing and direct competition has got in the minds of many people here, ebay has driven up a lot of old stuff, rightly or wrongly. As said a BIN on ebay would have generated a fast sale and charges.

Also most of us have bike(s) already so apart from bargain hunters and splitters, your niche is then orange fans who fit a 17" frame. so If I'd have bought it would have been as an asset, but then if I had to pick up from telford that would have outweighed any bonus probably.

I can see both sides on this one, no research and not bothered about money for a fast sale, fine :)

Notching the price up, prob 'ok' within reason too. as said ebay Buy It Now it would have been sold.

Welcome.

Peace

Right, locked this but it's my perogative to have the final word.

Underspray needed to read the forum rules and guidance before posting - these are in place to help newbies like this chap. They are there in big letters, how can i make it more obvious? He also needed to do some research. That is a given.

He offered it at a price. It was low but not ridiculous. I have no problem with someone accepting that. If he'd put it up for £3.50 and a twix that'd be different.

Equally I can understand the viewpoint we should help out new members. That is why we put things like 'how much is my xyz' worth threads up.

Anyhow seems like a fairly reasonable although robust debate.

If underspray hasn't sold it and wants to do so here I suggest writing a decent ad with a full spec, pics and FIRM PRICE.

As for comments directed at the mods please bear in mind we can't be on here 24/7 and read every post. We do (believe it or not) have lives outside this site. If you have a concern just drop me or any of the other chaps a PM as one user kindly did. We can then deal with as appropraite.

Over and Out.
