Re:

Thinking about it, bar end shifters were popular from the 50's through to the 70's, so I guess the pip is to stop the cable clamp slipping. Powder coat was done locally in Eastleigh.... very thick though, can't close the clamp on on the front mech. Decals from H Lloyd Cycles, still got one to go on seat tube along with world champion bands. Diamond shaped head badge reminds me of Eddy Merckx Molteni team bikes.

Ah!, never thought of that one. Note to self to have a look at my Roy Thame and see where the spike under the down tube is.

Picked up a set of new TA rings (52-42-34) for a tenner so I'll only have to polish the Stonglight 49D cranks.
Mafac Racer centre pulls stripped and waiting a polish...need to find some original brake blocks.
Campag front mech's polished up well, but I'll have to file off the sharp edges to close the clamp without chipping the paint...oh well, another quiet night in with a tube of Autosol.

That lot has polished up well, I do like a shiny pair of TA rings :). Front mech looks almost new....

Re:

Hi there retro bikers, I have re-edited my photos due to the Photobucket scam (am I allowed to say that?) and have finally finished the build.
Not the best of pictures, but taken in the kitchen, which was warmer than the shed for the final assembly.

That has come out looking really smart.
Very nicely done!
You'll have to report back with how it rides once you get out for a few miles on it.

Re:

Hi guys, many thanks for your positive comments.
I took the bike to show auntie Val the tribute build and she was very impressed, though not too sure about the colour as her 1960 model was in white. Sadly she'd lost the photos with her and the bike which she sold in 62 and never seen another one since.
