It reminds me of northern ireland troubles,how many of the petrol bomb throwing masses really gave two ***** about religion or politics not many I dare say.

Same as above,students rioting because they may have to pay more for their sociology degree......most of them never pay the student loan back anyway,so what are they complaining about

Being educated to degree level, I am sure you are already aware that similar ageist dismisal could eaqualy be directed at your own opinions.

I now speak with the benefit of experience; a lot of opinions I held in my younger days (funnily enough, mostly those which were completely opposed to those generally held by the previous generation) I have now _observed_ to be wrong. IMO, opinions are worthless unless formed from and backed by experience.

Out of curiosity, as i don't know, what does it cost to further you're education in other major seats of learning around the world?
I was under the impression, rightly or wrongly, that compared to say the USA, it was relatively cheap to gain a degree in this country?

When my brother went to canada to get a job with his engineering degree from england,they laughed at him,they said and I qoute "we thought that every single person in england has a degree,and for ticking boxes" He was home in a month

Please don't trash another thread. If you are interested in the topic, rather than just spouting your random collection of presumptions, why not discuss the matter sensibly? It's likely to be difficult enough without complicating things with uneeded, and irresponsible comments about the Troubles.

As I said above, the students protesting are not doing so nearly in their own interest. Most will have graduated before the changes come into effect. Neither is it just an excuse to riot. Why now, why the specific target?

What I find hilarious is the young git being held back by his pals from attacking half a dozen fully kitted out officers.

Are you seriously telling me that all the people rioting are rioting because they are interested in the cause that is in question :shock:

Dont think so,Throwing your weight around and being a vandal etc,does nothing to further your cause in my mind it just makes you look like a thug.

One would have thought that students were bright enough to know this,I would imagine that the actual rioters,when they get caught,are not even students,but just trouble makers.

As I speak with even more experience. Does that qualify me to dismiss your opinions out of hand? (I don't btw but just following your own logic)

For example... it is my experience that after questioning the injustice and hypocrisy of the world they find themselves in as young adults, many people as the grow older increasingly conform to the established norm. There are so many obvious, direct and indirect, external and internal, pressures applied to ensure that this happens that I don't think I need to list them all.
The greatest pressure though is the understandable desperation to achieve an acceptable standard of living and hold on to it. I can tell you, also from my experience that questioning the status quo is a definite drawback in achieving that goal.

You may come to realise this as you get older.
