Re:

The fact that a footballer earns such ridiculous amounts is nothing to do with it... it's about morality, trust and respect

As the leaders of the country, Cameron and Osbourne should be leading by example.... maybe that's the problem, they are

What part of HE HASN'T AVOIDED ANY TAX don't you understand?

I'm no fan of Cameron, far too wet for my liking. But all he's done is taken a gift from his maw where there is no tax liable, unless she dies within seven years. No tax liability = no tax avoidance.

It's the most basic of basic tax planning. IHT is a scum tax on previously taxed wealth and should be scrapped altogether. Designed to hit the wealthiest it now it affects anyone with an estate over £325k which isn't a lot in today's housing terms, and the further house prices rise the more people will fall into its trap.

This whole episode is an exercise in the papers playing lowest common denominator stuff to rally the plebs. It's seems there's a few here who like to gorge on the tabloid bait.

Just for reference, tax avoidance is legal, legitimate and sensible. Notwithstanding that the PM has paid what was due. What exactly is the story here?

Re:

Jesus, put it away love. Has any politician not thrust their tax return in our faces?

Whatever next? All gold traders and mods on here need to make full disclosure? :D only kidding!

Madness

True story. David Cameron invited my wife and all of her colleagues over for a BBQ the year before he was PM. He was totally cool, and really good with the learning disabled people from the place my wife was working. I have had a number of run ins with him, a friend of mine was his gardener too. Really a decent guy and fairly down to earth.

He even likes to shove his member in pigs' mouths. Dead ones of course! Doing that to a live one would be perverse! Who can't love a down to earth chap who loves pork stuffing?

He is a product of his environment, not a bad guy per se.

I think the tax thing is overblown. We just want to feel the people making decisions about our lives actually apply some of them to themselves.

Perhaps that is idealistic, but they do say I am a dreamer. But I'm not the only one.

Re:

I'd say DC was embarrassed to divulge everything because he's nowhere near as rich as people thought he was, despite the media obsession with him as an an Eton toff, Bullingdon elite etc etc Sure he will cash in when he leaves office though.

I didn't realise having money was a bad thing, what with the talk of smoke and fires.

The sooner the poor(er) stopped worrying about the rich(er) and started concentrating on themselves the better imo.

Don't worry, the schemies don't have televisions and don't read the papers. They focus solely on their next bottles of super strength cider.
