Not sure your thoughts on this as not retro but here go's,

I love my Retro Kona's and could not resist this 2006 Explosif frame, have built into a single speed with P2s to keep the cool factor, It rides as well as the Cindercone's and its yet another for the collection. The frame has an amazing ring to it when you flick it or even click in the SPD's 8)

Many Classic racing car drivers have their old pride and joys and also their every day sports car for the sheer hell of it ...... I will do the same with bikes as I am not in the racing car league....... but I do dream

Is there a bike that was new in the last 3 years that would become the envy on this site in 10 years time ? ?

yeah - I'd agree with that Roy. Although the Cotic Souls are sweet too for mass-produced frames.

Yup.

There's lots of real tasty steel frames around at the moment. Cotic do some great future classics.........and it wouldn't be right if I didn't mention the re-re Clockworks & P7's 8)

to use your analogy of classic cars, it makes it hard to pin down what predetermines somethings 'classic' status - ie the Austin seven and Model T ford were big sellers and cheap at the time, but people still regard them as much as desirable 'classic' cars as say a Type 35 Bugatti or a Voisin which were both much, much more expensive/exclusive/rare at the time, and even more so now.

In my opinion, it has to either be something that was a)mass produced but mould-breaking and/or still holds it own now (hence why the older lower model Konas are still desirable) or b) uber-rare, over-machined, uneccessarily fancy (a la Machine Tech/Trimble - sorry Tony!)

I think.
