Is it a Zaskar? Nope, a '92 Xizang

Go on then, educate me, how can you identify Xizang from a triple triangle?

Raw finish to the tubes and the size of the welds?

‘Bout time this had an update. I was never really happy with the compact Syncros Revolutions, so they were moved on (ages ago) to be replaced with standard 110mm BCD. This Xizang also came with Shimano XTR M900, so M900 ‘rings were fitted and the XT M732 I had used was also replaced with M900 for shifting duties. The non-drive disk sheet was completely shredded so a not very pretty repair with much Araldite was carried out. At the same time, XT M730/2 hubs were swapped out for XTR M900.
Shimano obviously never produced a U-brake to go with the M900 groupset, so the XT version I had was replaced with an upside down Magura Hydrostop. XT thumbies made way for Magura shifter pod clamps holding M900 pods in place. Original GT waffle grips complete the cockpit.
Since I was sticking with Syncros cranks (with Crank-O-Matic bolts) I wondered what else from the ‘92 Syncros catalogue I could source. So a gen 2 seatpost, shimmed bars, titanium BB, Steerhorn bar ends and bottle found a place. I decided against a Cattleprod stem because I had already sourced a ‘92 GT Flip Flop stem to replace the ‘91 version I had borrowed from a Zaskar waiting in the wings.
The Shimano decal on the top tube and Rock Shox Mag20 forks were inspired by Rishi Grewal’s Xizang race bike.

I think the chances of anything growing undoing your front wheel are equally low for both configurations; probably just personal preference :)
