Some people here need to get things off their chest

If you have the patience and the funds to do things right, you aren't welcome here

You don't count in their eyes

You're obviously on to something here so let's roll with it. You've been on here just shy of 6 years. And you've made your point, across a number of threads, again and again. And again. And, indeed, again in case some hadn't understood your perspective. Some quality bikes have won BoTM since the start of 2007. I'm making no connection, particularly as quality is an personally perceived experience that cannot be empirically defined.

There are are currently just shy of 25,000 members registered with Retrobike (obviously less 6 years ago). Not all these are or were active but how many exactly haven't made you and your views welcome? Seriously, let's let facts get in the way of your story.

If you're going to engage, please bring something positive to the party. So join the community, share your knowledge, embrace the love. From a personal perspective, as someone with a lot of Bontrager knowledge, I'd be very interested in your insight on http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=233587 , either on the forum or via PM.
You're right, this really is the friendliest forum on the web. I've just been making it up this entire time just for grins

I agree. I think he is onto something here. I used to post plenty. And then a couple years ago I stopped after a couple of members got personal with their insults. Ironically, if I remember correctly the insults were also about elitism. After several rounds with these charming folks and NO comments by the moderators (which, to me, conveyed a certain level of acceptance of this behavior) I stopped contributing to the board.

All a 'good history' seems to require is spending the same money, but spending it in the distant past.

Can't see the problem if a bike's timeline kicks off now instead of 20 years ago.

This is true, I myself am not 20 yet!!!!

What an utterly pointless waste of space this discussion is

Firstly, of course BOTM is going to be elitist... by the virtue of its very nature being a competition of the best/nicest/best looking/rarest/best customised/most personal/etc etc bikes that are submitted!

Secondly, an alarming number of the comments in this and the current BOTM threads are complete drivel, written by people with either very little else in their lives to entertain them, or over-inflated egos and opinions that they have lost the ability to communicate in a regular, polite and curtious manner

To counter the elitism argument, I am going to petition The Modfathers for a Karma Special... that should shut the whingers, winers, snobs and elitists up

Wow. 8 pages since Saturday afternoon. Feel obliged to comment so here it is.

FWIW think we're doing it about right. It's a contest and generally the 'best' will win. We do mix things up a fair bit so maybe one day the OP will find a special month to suit his particular builds.

Oh, and welcome back to the site Rumpy.
